In the Assin South District of the Central Region, at Assin Kruwa, a 22-year-old Mobile Money vendor committed suicide.

On June 8, 2023, about 3 PM, the dead, Abdul Rahman Acquah, left his house and was never seen again.

The community members performed a thorough search, but their efforts turned up nothing.

However, on June 9, 2023, the Wildlife Division staff at Kakum National Park, stationed at Assin Kruwa Camp, continued the search to the forest with the deceased’s relatives and several community people, and they discovered him hanging on a tree with a copper wiring cable.

After conducting an investigation of the body and finding no evidence of violence, the police at Nyankumasi Ahenkuro went straight to the scene to transport the body to the morgue of the Abura Dunkwa District Hospital for preservation and postmortem.

Unconfirmed sources claim the dead may have died of frustration, while investigations are still being conducted to determine what would have caused the death.

According to a witness who talked to media, the deceased had previously vowed to kill himself since his business owner was on his neck demanding Gh3,500.00 and threatening to have him arrested if the money wasn’t returned.

The owner of the mobile money business has been alerted in the meantime, and according to him, he continues to demand payment from the deceased’s family members before allowing them to bury him.
