According to the Director General of Ghana AIDS Commission Dr Kwabena Kyeremeh Atuahene about 46 people get HIV daily in Ghana.
He said that, this is as a result of people not protecting themselves during sexual intercourse.
Speaking in an interview with the media, he stated that the fight against HIV is still ongoing but needs improvement and financial help.
He said the commission is suppose to receive an amount of $133milion every year to fight the HIV but rather they receive only $54milion each year making the fight difficult.
Dr Kyeremeh Atuah took the opportunity to appeal to the general public to help fight the HIV by giving financial support to the commission by sending any amount to them by dialing their short code *9898# on all network and make your donation.
Dr. Atuahene pointed out that the Commission has launched a vigorous search for the more than 100,000 HIV-positive individuals in order to get them into treatment.
He claims that this is why the HIV self-testing campaign was started.
“When it comes to HIV services, there are some people that are underserved. Bringing the services to their doorstep will allow those who are afraid to learn their status to at least start the process by testing to determine whether they are reactive or not. Some are difficult to reach and may not have the opportunity to receive any of the services.
