Don’t fall prey to the promises of Bawumia, he has nothing new to offer Ghanaians – Alan Kyerematen

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has come under fire from Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who has declared to run as an independent in the 2024 presidential election, claiming he has nothing new to offer the people of Ghana.

As a result, Mr. Kyerematen, who left the New Patriotic Party in September 2023 to found the Movement for Change, on whose platform he would run for office, has cautioned Ghanaians not to be duped by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s claims.

Mr. Kyerematen stated that Dr. Bawumia was powerless to alter Ghana’s economic situation during a discussion he hosted in Accra on Wednesday in order to recruit volunteers for his campaign.

The former Trade and Industry Minister claimed that the Vice President had done everything he could to support the Akufo-Addo-led government and that he had nothing new to give. He withdrew from the NPP flagbearer competition last Saturday, which saw victory of Dr. Bawumia.

According to him, there is no distinction between the Vice Presidency and the Presidency; they are simply one “combined ticket.”

Mr. Kyerematen stated that the Vice President’s assertion that, upon winning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership contest on November 4, 2023, he would be his own man with his own vision was untrue.

He clarified that even if Dr. Bawumia were elected president, he would still be unable to alter the nation’s economic situation if, during his nearly eight years in office, he was unable to come up with any solutions.
