Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice president of the Republic of Ghana, has refuted accusations that the NPP administration, which is led by Akuffo Addo, has neglected the needs of the Ashanti Region.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration has done enough for the area to merit praise.
On August 1, 2022, at Kentinkrono in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region, he made this statement during the project’s commissioning for the 100 kilometer Kumasi Inner City Ring Road and Adjacent Streets Project.
Speaking to the crowd, Dr. Bawumia announced that the four-tier Suame Interchange Project will begin construction in September 2022.
A strong sign that the current NPP administration is fulfilling its promise to the Ashanti Region is that president Akuffo would commission the Kumasi International Airport in September of this year.
In relation to roads, the head of the Economic Management Team revealed that from 2017 to 2022, the government finished building 1180 killometres of roads in the Ashanti area.
He cites 264 kilometers of highway road projects, 421 kilometers of feeder road projects, and 495 kilometers of urban road projects as examples of finished roads.
The government’s attempts to offer accessible roads for Ghanaians include these road infrastructure projects.
“Government is committed to ensure a cost – effective and sustainable transport system, reduce congestion and travel on roads at ease across the country “Dr Bawumia said.
