The president of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Omanhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Agyemang Badu II, has asked Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, to think about selecting a running mate from the Bono Region or the Bono East Region.
He said that if he gives other areas priority while making decisions, the region could not support him.
As part of his regional trip, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia made this request during a courtesy visit to the Bono Regional House of Chiefs in Sunyani.
“His excellency please I know very soon you will select your running mate. If you have selected too I haven’t heard…There are many people in most of the regions but if you are not careful and you focus on only some regions, they will vote for you but the rest of us will vote against you.”
“His excellency the thing I will appeal is for Bono region to be remembered…I have seen you have come here with sons of the region,” he expressed.
He recommended that Dr. Bawumia take into consideration a few possible running mates from the region, namely Martin Adjei Korsah, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, and Mahama Afful.
“We in Bono region and to that extent Bono East have an interest in who you select as running mate,I will understand if it goes elsewhere but I will really thank you if it comes here,” Dormaahene stated.
Before beginning his tour, he has made it a point to see local religious leaders throughout his campaign trail to seek their blessings, guidance, and advice. In addition, he met with the Bono Regional House of Chiefs to present his agenda and solicit their counsel.
During his meeting with the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, the chiefs and the public warmly welcomed him with shouts and smiles.
Dr. Bawumia will discuss his plans and priorities for the Ghanaian people after winning the presidency. He restated and elaborated on his policies of flat taxation and corporate growth assistance.
Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, speaking to the Bono Regional House of Chiefs President Dormaahene, conveyed his thanks and unrestrained adoration for the Vice President.
“Dr Bawumia, you’re respectful, intelligent, and more striking is the fact that your utterances are devoid of insults and are decent” he said.
