President Akufo-Addo has set a meeting with Organised Labour for Tuesday, June 25, 2024, to discuss the contentious sale of SSNIT hotels, following the “Hands Off Our Hotel” demonstration.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the member of parliament for North Tongu, revealed this revelation on Saturday, June 22, in an interview with TV3’s KeyPoints.

“Organized Labour has notified me that the President has extended an invitation to them for a meeting on Tuesday, the 25th of this month,” disclosed Mr. Ablakwa, expressing his optimism that the meeting will not serve as a means of convincing Organised Labour to back down from their opposition to the sale. Mr. Ablakwa expressed his annoyance by saying, “It is really disappointing that the President has taken so long to step in and put an end to this scandalous situation.”

The President’s invitation comes as worries regarding SSNIT’s plan to give Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong 60% of its ownership in a number of hotels, including Labadi Beach Hotel, La Palm Beach Hotel, Ridge Royal Hotel, and Busua Beach Hotel, are intensifying.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who organized a “Hands Off Our Hotels” event on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, to deliver a petition to the President requesting that he stop the sale, made revelations about this situation that brought it to light.

Mr. Ablakwa expressed concerns regarding the fitness of Bryan Acheampong’s Rock City properties and the planned buyer, stating that the business is already losing money and is unable to oversee the other properties. He said that Rock City had failed to file its tax returns for 2022, based on documents he had obtained from the Ghana Revenue Authority.

Bryan Acheampong responded by disputing these claims and putting Ablakwa under pressure to turn over the purported documents that were allegedly intercepted from the GRA.
