Free, fair, and transparent general elections in December have been demanded by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.
Such values are essential for preserving peace and guaranteeing Ghanaians accept the results of the election, according to Otumfuo.
In order to maintain national cohesion and the legitimacy of the election, the Asantehene emphasized that openness and reliability would be beneficial to both governments and voters.
At the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate’s official introduction to him on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Manhyia Palace, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang made her statement.
The significance of peaceful elections was emphasized by Otumfuo, who pointed out that only fair, free, and transparent elections can guarantee the stability of the country’s peace.
Prof. Opoku Agyemang’s humility, respect, and commitment were commended by the Asantehene, who also highlighted her exceptional performance as the previous vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
He asked her to uphold these principles while running for office with NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama and to help Ghanaians understand the vision of the party.
In addition, Prof. Opoku Agyemang had a courtesy call from Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, the Asantehemaa, who offered prayers for his success in the upcoming elections in December.
The Asantehemaa emphasized how this achievement may contribute to the advancement of women’s empowerment in Ghana.
During the visit, Prof. Opoku Agyemang reaffirmed her commitment to the NDC’s agenda for national development and conveyed her thanks for the royal blessings.
