A cross-section of the diplomatic community met with the Electoral Commission (EC) to discuss the updated provisional voter register in advance of the polls on December 7.
The EC used the conference as a chance to brief participants on a range of election-related issues, such as materials, EC’s redress processes, deadlines for printing ballots, notice of polls, voter registration, and online exhibition.
Speaking during the meeting on Thursday, October 10, 2024, Electoral Commission head Jean Mensa emphasized the EC’s commitment to holding a reliable, free, and fair election with results that everyone would accept.
A Commonwealth pre-election assessment team has also paid a visit to the Electoral Commission’s headquarters in the meantime.
The visit’s goal was to get an update from the EC on the plans for the general election that will take place in December 2024.
Lindiwe Maleleka, a political advisor in the Commonwealth’s governance and peace directorate’s election assistance division, served as the team leader.
