The public is being advised by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to stop putting stones at their gas cylinders that are leaking and to purchase new regulators.
The Service reports that there have been a lot of house fires across the nation.
Fire officer Abdul Rahman told the media during a fire sensitization exercise at Adjen-Kotoku in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, that the frequency of such accidents is concerning and that they should be prevented.
Fire Officer, Abdul Rahman blamed the spike in household fires to faulty cylinders used by Ghanaians.
Abdul Rahman urged Ghanaians to try to replace the seals on their cylinders in order to prevent the incidence of home fire breakouts and protect lives and property.
He pleaded with people who use cylinders to regularly change their regulators and to quit piling stones on them when they notice leaks.
