A group of thugs who interfered with the Ashanti Regional Council of State election in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, are being sought by the Ghana Police Service.

The attackers stormed the location during the ballot sorting process, damaging ballot boxes and papers in the process.

The well-built males reportedly broke into the election center with force, causing pandemonium and stopping the process, according to witnesses.

Although the damage had already been done, security personnel at the scene were able to restore order.

The police issued a statement denouncing the incident and promising to arrest and prosecute all those responsible for the violent disturbance.

Anyone with knowledge about the offenders is being asked to help with the ongoing investigation by the authorities.

The Electoral Commission is currently evaluating the effects of the disruption and is anticipated to make an announcement regarding the necessity of a rerun of the election. Since then, the venue’s security has been increased to stop these kinds of occurrences.
