At Asuyeboah North, close to Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region, a fire calamity claimed the lives of a 48-year-old woman and her two children by burning them to death.
One patient with serious wounds has been sent into the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for care.
On Monday, September 19, 2022, in the early hours, Madam Felicia, who was thought to be in her late 40s, reportedly passed away alongside her two children, Obed Owusu, 11, and Chritable Owusu, 9.
The family of four became trapped in their rooms when the fire started, but one of them managed to escape, according to an eyewitness who spoke with Ghanatodayonline.com reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng.
“The incident occurred around 12:30 to 1:00 am on Monday when we saw a tick smoke around the 10-bedroom house. Residents in the vicinity rushed to help but all our attempts to save the family proved futile.”
“The only survival among them, Mr Owusu managed to escape after creating a hole in one of the burglar proof windows but his efforts to rescue his wife and children came to nothing as they were already burnt by the blazing fire”. A witness who pledged anonymity told media.
The three victims’ scorched corpses were then placed in the morgue of Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Thousands of cedis’ worth of belongings in the property were entirely destroyed by the blaze.
According to a police source at the Asuyeboah North Police post, an investigation into the incident has already started.
