Galamsey Kingpin En Huang, also known as Aisha Huang, has sacked the legal team that was representing her in the current trial, which was headed by Captain Nkrabea Effah Dartey.

Since her initial arraignment on September 16, the seasoned attorney and his staff have been defending the Chinese citizen who is being tried on four crimes.

However, following last Wednesday’s proceedings, on November 16, Aisha Huang allegedly gave Effah Dartey the order to skip today’s session.

A fresh team of attorneys, consisting of Attorneys Miracle Atta-Chey and Hope Agboado, appeared in court on Monday, November 21, when the case was called.

They denied representing Attorney Effah Dartey when queried by Mrs. Yvonne Attakora Oboubisah, Director of Public Prosecution.

Justice Lydia Osei Marfo of the court said that she believes the accused sacked Effah Dartey as a defense attorney.

What motivated her choice was not immediately apparent.

Attorney Effah Dartey requested that the court accommodate him at the next planned hearing on November 17 rather than the previous one on November 16, 2022, since he had an appointment with his physicians at the 37 Military Hospital that day.

It was anticipated that attorney Effah Dartey will resume the cross-examination of third prosecution witness Nana Sarfo Prempah, a divisional chief of Ashanti Agogo Traditional Area (Ntotoe Division).

However, Aisha Huang’s new attorneys, under the direction of Attorney Miracle Atta-Chey, are putting the witness through a cross-examination.

The renowned galamsey boss has entered a not guilty plea to four counts, including returning to Ghana without authorization from the Comptroller General of the Ghana Immigration Service.
