The Ghana Armed Forces(GAF) have received special praise from the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Samuel A. Jinapor (MP), for their unwavering support of the ministry’s programs and efforts aimed at preserving the environment.

On January 5, 2022, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, the Chief of Defence Staff, had a visit from Mr. Jinapor, who communicated the feelings.

Mr. Jinapor remarked that the Ghana Armed Forces provided the Ministry with outstanding assistance in the implementation of many programs, including Green Ghana.

The Minister said that the Ghana Armed Forces have been actively engaged in the fight against illicit mining and that the advancements gained wouldn’t have been possible without their hard and selfless efforts.

But he also said that 2023 offers a chance for his organization and the Military to work closely together and boost up the campaign to stop unlawful mining.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s preparedness to expand its partnership with the military in order to address problems in the Land and Forestry sector as well as combat unlawful mining.

Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, the Chief of Defence Staff, highlighted that the ministry’s regular involvement with the Armed Forces is evidence of the importance the ministry placed on its relationship with the army.

When called upon, the military, he claimed, will continue to be steadfast in their commitment to the battle against illicit mining.

The military is in charge of the nation’s war against illicit mining through the Operation Halt II task force.
