Four people have been detained by the police after an early-morning attack on a gas station and the death of a security officer in Wassa Agona, Western Region, on January 28, 2023.
The suspects, Francis Ebuka, Wisdom Justway, Samuel Chibuzor, and Kinglsy Okechuku alias Kofi Kingsly, beat the gasoline attendants severely during the robbery and made off with an undisclosed sum of money, the filling station’s CCTV Digital Video Recorder (DVR), and the victims’ cell phones.
Police patrol teams in the catchment area mobilized after learning about the robbery incident and headed to the spot. During the operation, they detained suspects Francis Ebuka, Wisdom Justway, and Samuel Chibuzor who were attempting to leave the scene on a motorcycle.
They were searched, and items found included a black hood, a purse containing two cellphones, and twenty thousand, seven hundred, and twenty-two Ghana cedis (20,722.00).
Kingsly Okechuku, the fourth suspect, was tracked by the police squad to a motel close to Bogoso, where they were able to recover money from him that was believed to be part of their loot—GHc 44,852.00.
Other items recovered from the suspects include the DVR components of the CCTV setup stolen by the suspects together with two pinch bars and a Ghana Card belonging to one of the victims.
“All four suspects are currently in Police custody and will be put before the court to face justice.
We would like to assure the public that we will continue to work tirelessly to keep our communities safe” Police stated in the statement.
