According to Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, his Ministry is working to put in place a religious policy that will help keep the system in order and streamline how the various religious organizations conduct their business.

He said that his predecessors, Hon. Kofi Dzamesi and Hon. Ebenezer Kojo Kum, had established a draft policy and that he would work to perfect it in collaboration with significant religious body stakeholders to ensure the issuance of a specific document for Mother Ghana.

As the Minister paid a courtesy call on the Christian Council of Ghana during their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 in Accra, he gave them this guarantee. He did so to properly introduce himself as the new Minister for the Sector, hear what they had to say, and ask for their support so he could lead their sector successfully and efficiently.

Mr Boateng stated that, “he believes in prayer so he does not step out without committing himself to God because spirituality gives focus and purpose therefore a person without it does not have focus as a person must have a belief in something.”

In response to a request from the Council, he stated that his group will communicate with the Ministry of Education so that religious groups with mission schools might have some influence over the schools.

Prof. J.O.Y. Mante, Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, begged the Minister to help the council reduce immorality in mission schools and among young ladies since the younger generation found this attitude unsettling.

The Council was delighted that the Minister was engaged in their work, he said, and he pledged to support him entirely in all his initiatives.

They prayed for the Minister, sang with him, and gave God the honor for his work in order to assure his success.
