In an official letter to the Al Jazeera Media Network, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo demanded an apology and retraction for damaging his reputation with what he called a “inaccurate and unfair” portrayal of Ghana’s first gentleman in the Gold Mafia documentary.
The president demanded action from the media outlet in a letter his Secretary, Nana Bediatuo Asante, sent to the organization. “It is imperative that you act forthwith on this request within seven (7) days from the date of receipt of this letter”.
Parts of the documentary that indicted Akufo-Addo, according to Nana Bediatuo Asante’s letter, were intentional, defamatory, and part of a deliberate effort to damage the president of Ghana’s reputation.
The administration denied that Akufo-Addo was involved in any of the claims contained in the Gold Mafia documentary, which was made public a few weeks ago.
