Following the suspension of their strike, members of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) are now back at work.

The members could be seen performing their regular tasks and attending to clients.

JUSAG started a nationwide strike, accusing the government of ignoring repeated requests to implement updated pay and benefits for its members since January 2023.

However, following a Monday discussion with the administration, the group decided to call off its strike for two weeks.

Abdulai Yakubu, the General Secretary of JUSAG, expressed optimism that the payment deadlines would be followed.

“Yes, after receiving the proper assurance from the government, we ordered our members to report back to work. I visited the courts to confirm that our members had in fact resumed their jobs. We have kept our end of the deal, and we hope the government will follow suit. We anticipate that the negotiation processes will be finished by June 12 and that the Controller and Accountant General’s Department will receive the necessary clearances. Abdulai Yakubu said that JUSAG will counsel itself if it wasn’t done.

In the meantime, some court clients are pleading with the government to take the JUSAG plea seriously in order to prevent a second strike.
