Accra: Policeman allegedly shoots himself to death

At his home at Atomic Police Barracks in Kwabenya, a police officer named Lance Corporal Francis Adusei of the Service Workshop is said to have shot himself with a service weapon, according to media reports.

The event happened on Monday, May 6, 2024, at around 8:45 a.m., according to a police situational report that Ghanatodayonline.com was able to view.

As they hurried inside after hearing a gunshot from Block 3, Room No. 10B, neighbors discovered that the resident had shot himself with an AK47 assault weapon, serial number GHGP/58NHQ/PU/AZ6303 – 205, that was lying on the bed.

There was a blood pool on the floor and some bloodstains on the bedspread, respectively.

One cartridge of AK-47 ammo and an empty shell were also discovered at the scene. The bedroom had the rifle resting on the bed and the door closed from the inside.

After being taken to the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission Hospital (GAEC) for emergency care, the Lance Corporal was reportedly moved to the emergency ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he was receiving treatment.

However, Francis Adusei passed away while being admitted to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Since then, the dead person’s body has been placed in the Police Hospital morgue for preservation while an autopsy is conducted.
