Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the former General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed regret to party members he offended while doing his duties and serving the party.
In order to run for the chairmanship, Mr. Nketiah, who has been the NDC general secretary for 17 years, is standing down from his position today, Saturday, December 17, 2022.
He intends to challenge Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the incumbent, in today’s congress, which will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Let me give a word of farewell to you as I stand down today as your general secretary having served in that capacity for the previous 17 years, Mr. Nketiah said in an address at the congress grounds.
“I thank you for your cooperation and thank everybody.”
“Those I’ve offended may the Lord touch your heart to forgive me,” he observed
The foot soldiers of this nation and this party are shared and given credit for the accomplishments I have done thus far, he said.
Former lawmakers Nii Armah Ashiety and Samuel Yaw Adusei are also running for chairman, although Mr. Asiedu Nketiah and Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo are the front-runners.
