Today, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, businessman Richard Jakpa is scheduled to be subjected to cross-examination by the Attorney General (AG). This is expected to be an intriguing confrontation given the accusations made against Godfred Yeboah Dame in the ongoing ambulance trial.
This came about following the conclusion of Mr. Jakpa’s cross-examination by the legal team of Dr. Ato Forson, the first accused, on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
It’s unclear if Godfred Dame, the AG, will appear in person to cross-examine the prosecution, but one thing is certain: Mr. Jakpa will remain under investigation by the prosecution.
On Thursday, June 13, 2024, after the lawyers for Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, led by Bu Dr Abdul Basit Aziz Bamba, concluded their cross-examination, Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, a Justice of the Court of Appeals who is overseeing the case as an extra High Court judge, called upon the Prosecution.
Prior to it, the Court had entered an audio recording of Godfred Dame and the third accused, Richard Jakpa, into evidence.
The current minority leader in parliament, Dr. Ato Forson, and businessman Richard Jakpa are facing allegations that they purposefully caused the republic to lose 2.37 million euros by buying ambulances.
They are awaiting trial after entering a not guilty plea.
