Hon Justice Baffour Awuah, also known as “Hon Bompin,” is an assembly member for the Akyeremade Kwanwoma and Behenase electoral area in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti. On Sunday, August 13, 2023, after attending a funeral, he moved into a new home in Akyeremade.

Around 11:45 p.m., the tragic occurrence took place in Akyeremade, next to the Talk Star Hotel.

According to the victim, Hon. Baffour Awuah, a well-known journalist for Ezra TV/FM in Kumasi, his belongings and objects in his room, including building supplies, were totally destroyed.

The victim added he was in the sleeping room asleep after he returned home from the funeral and other meetings when his wife detected serious fire outbreak in the house.

After being alerted, Hon Baffour Awuah hurried outdoors, but despite his best efforts and the help of his neighbors, the situation was tragically beyond repair.

He claimed that fire had destroyed his furniture, clothing, kitchenware, and other expensive possessions.

The assistant of the Talk Star Hotel assisted with their fire extinguisher to calm the sad situation before the Atwima Kwanwoma district fire service officer, Mr. John Kofi Minta, and the Ashanti regional fire squad intervened to put out the fire.

Preliminary investigations will be carried out, according to district fire officer John Minta, to determine the origin or cause of the incident.
