Bagbin swears in Ernest Yaw Anim as Kumawu MP

Ernest Yaw Anim, who was just elected as the Ashanti Region’s representative for Kumawu, has taken the oath of office.

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, he was sworn in by Speaker of the House Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, and the Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson, extended a hearty welcome to the new lawmaker in the House.

Following the passing of the incumbent MP, Philip Basoah, Ernest Yaw Anim was chosen in a by-election on May 23, 2023, to serve as the new Member of Parliament for Kumawu.

In comparison to Kwasi Amankwah of the NDC, who received 3,723, he received 15,364.

Kwaku Duah, an independent who many political observers thought may pull off an unexpected victory, received 2,478 votes.

Only 62 votes were cast for Kwaku Duah, another independent contender.
