The Assembly Members of the Bantama Sub-Metro of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly have honored Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency.
The honor, according to the Assembly Members of the eight (8) Sub-Metro electoral areas, is in acknowledgment of the ground-breaking change that their current Member of Parliament made to the Bantama Constituency.
The Assembly Members gave Mr. Asenso-Boakye a citation of honor, saying that despite holding the position for only three years, he had performed far better than any other MP the district has had since the 4th Republic.
The Assembly Members cited the construction and aphalting of major roads; construction of several AstroTurf Football Pitches; giving scholarship to needy students; provision of industrial machines for shoe makers, Hairdressers, tailors/seamstresses; presentation of ambulance to health facilities and a vehicle to the Bantama NHIS; building of police stations; presentation of dual desks to schools; presentation of Water Tanks to schools; building of community libraries; organization of mock exams for prospective BECE candidates; supporting the youth with startup capitals to start businesses, and assisting the youth to gain admission into higher institutions of learning while leading the recruitment of others into the police, army, immigration, fire service and other security services; as some of the giant strives made by Mr. Asenso-Boakye for his constituents.
The Assembly Members once more expressed their gratitude to their Member of Parliament for advocating for the building of the Atafoa bridge, where commuters have endured flooding for years, sometimes to the point of death, when attempting to cross during torrential downpours.
Speaking on behalf of the Assembly, Hon. Francis Amoako, Chairman of the Bantama Sub-Metro, said, “From the time of Hon. Richard Anane until now, we have not seen any MP bring us, the people of Bantama, this kind of development Hon. Asenso-Boakye has brought to us within this short period of his being our MP. He needs our backing if he is to accomplish more for us.
But as Oliver Twist would do, we are asking that he keeps his lobbying skills well ignited to help solve the other challenges we have in the constituency, and we are very sure he shall do them”.
The Eight Assembly Members presented a beautiful citation bearing statements expressing their heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Asenso-Boakye for the astronomical progress he has brought to the Bantama constituency.
The Bantama MP and Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, responded to the Assembly Members’ gesture by saying that it has inspired him to do more for his people.
He expressed gratitude for their recognition of his “modest contributions” to the growth of Bantama.
Mr. Asenso-Boakye urged Ghanaians to acknowledge that the country’s growth and development is a shared duty, highlighting the need for each Ghanaian to play a part in helping the government make the progress that they all desire.
”The development we see in places like the Europe has been achieved through the payment of taxes. I pray we Ghanaians to support government with honest payment of our taxes.
Now, when the people pay their taxes, all hands that have part to play in putting them into the best use for the growth of the country, must do so.”
