The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, former president John Mahama, has urged the Minority in Parliament to oppose any attempts by the government to place additional hardships on Ghanaians prior to the December elections.
Mr. Mahama emphasized that the main force capable of impeding the government’s attempts to impose harsh laws that burden the people is the Minority.
Speaking to MPs from the minority group in Ho, Volta Region, Mr. Mahama emphasized the need to stop the government from making life difficult for Ghanaians.
“Your return is opportune and timely, as it accords you an opportunity to maintain even greater vigilance and oversight over a government that is becoming increasingly desperate and, with no doubt, attempting to ramp draconian policies down the throats of Ghanaians” Mahama stated.
“On the evidence of what we have seen so far, I believe I speak for the generality of Ghanaians when I say that you in the Minority have lived up to expectations,” Mr. Mahama said, praising the Minority for their diligence.
