The Ashanti Regional football competition for boy’s division originally slated for Monday 26th June, 2023 has been called off.
This comes after the Minister for Education Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum appealed to the Regional director of education Dr Kwame Amankrah and the SHS Federation to reconsider their decision to ban a number of schools from this year’s event.
This cry was necessary after the regional sports federation decided to extend ban from the recent ended athletics to cut across other sporting disciplines.
Dr. Yaw Adutwum who is the an Old boy (Abranteɛ) made the appeal when spoke as a guest at the 60th Anniversary launch of his Alma mater yesterday at the school’s premises.
He said he has received a number of petitions from schools that were affected by the decision of the regional schools federation.
He said it is not fair to extend ban or punishments from athletics to other sports disciplines like football, basketball etc.
A new date of Thursday 29th June to Tuesday 4th July 2023 has been set.
New draw is expected to be conducted for the games tomorrow morning.
