The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Council of Elders Chair, Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, is advising candidates to control their supporters during the impending internal elections of the party.
He claims that the Council will punish candidates for the misbehavior of their supporters.
“We are talking to these candidates as elders and asking them to control their supporters so that we may conduct these polls with the utmost decorum and free of any animosity or insults.
“We won’t let them off the hook; we’ll hold them accountable for the words of their followers. Because of this, you must hold them and ensure that you bring your fans to order before you can argue, “Well, I did not say, somebody said,” stated Mr. Owusu-Agyemang on Friday, June 2.
Conflicts will unavoidably arise given the level of people vying for roles like flagbearer, the chair of the NPP Council of Elders acknowledged.
He claimed that the upcoming internal elections wouldn’t endanger the cohesiveness of the party.
Mr. Owusu-Agyemang highlighted that the NPP’s unity is highly valued by the Council of Elders, and that group will take precautions to make sure that cohesion is not jeopardized.
The Council would ensure that the primary elections would be fair, open, and devoid of intimidation, he further promised, so no contender would have an edge over others.
