The Adentan Circuit Court has convicted a 42-year-old carpenter to four years in prison for biting off a commercial driver’s right ear following an argument in Addoteiman, Accra.
Maxwell Senyo, who was accused of harming someone, entered a confessional guilty plea.
Judge Mrs. Sedinam Awo Balokah convicted Senyo based on his plea after hearing his justification.
The victim, Anku Stephen, dwells in Addoteiman, and the accused also used to reside there, according to Inspector Eric Ransford Abban, the case’s prosecutor.
Stephen and his fiancée were seated beneath a tree close to Senyo’s wooden building on May 7, 2023, at 8:00 PM.
Senyo approached them while they were there and inquired as to their intentions. Stephen gave a negative response. Then, if they didn’t leave the area right away, Senyo threatened to denounce Stephen to his father as a robber.
As a result, Senyo and Stephen got into a fight. Senyo pulled a limb from the tree and hit Stephen during the altercation. In the ensuing altercation, both men were knocked to the ground, and Senyo suffered injuries to his cheeks. Senyo grabbed Stephen’s head and bit off his right ear, a startling change of events.
According to later police investigations, Senyo just bit off the complainant’s ear since he was seated next to Senyo’s wooden construction. In response to questions from the police, Senyo admitted to the crime.
Senyo was given a four-year prison sentence by the court, which was presided over by Judge Mrs. Sedinam Awo Balokah, for his aggressive act that seriously injured the victim.
