Chief and two others reportedly killed by unidentified shooters

At the agricultural community of Borae Ahenfie in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region, Nana Meebo, the head of Borae Ahenfie, and two other people are said to have been shot dead by unidentified gunmen.

The police are working with 14 persons who have been detained in relation to the gunshot event to further their investigations.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), who also serves as the Chairman of the District Security Committee (DISEC), Mr. Nkrumah Kwasi Ogyile, confirmed the occurrence to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and said that the attackers ambushed and shot the chief and the two victims to death.

He said that the late chief had a dispute with several community groups over a plot of property, which he had successfully resolved at the Krachi West District Court.

According to Mr. Ogile, the late chief later gave the court’s decision to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Charles Dormaban, the Oti Regional Police Commander, and encouraged the factions to abide by the ruling.

The late chief and two of his subjects were reportedly attacked by the assailants while the group was working on the aforementioned area, according to the DISEC Chairman.

He said that the deceased’s remains had been placed in the Krachi West District hospital’s mortuary for preservation.

He said that security had been increased and peace had returned.
