Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of the Eighth Parliament, has urged the Ghanaian Electoral Commission to hold elections in 2024 with integrity, transparency, and confidence.
At the University for Development Studies’ 8th Harmattan School in Tamale, he gave the clarion call.
As the honored guest, the Speaker pleaded with the EC to put the nation’s stability, voter safety, and will above all else.
He also advised the media to report with caution and hold off on making snap judgments about the outcome. When reporting on political parties and their activities, the media must also be responsible, fair, and unbiased.
He emphasized that tensions surrounding elections present an opportunity for violent extremists in the subregion to exploit Ghana’s democracy.
He addressed the theme; Accountable governance, violent extremism, and the 2024 elections.
