Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former finance minister and party flagbearer candidate, and Kojo Bonsu, a rival, have been ordered by John Kwadwo Gyapong, the dean of the National Regional Chairmen Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to first run for and win their respective parliamentary seats.

He clarified that if someone has never served as a member of parliament, he does not see how they can become the party’s flagbearer.

No one will take the other contenders seriously until they start at the bottom, according to the Dean of the NDC Regional Chairmen, who was speaking at the formal beginning of the John Mahama Campaign in Ho, in the Volta Region.

“Dr. Duffuor, have you won your seat before? Charity begins at home. Have you won it before? Who should do the donkey job for you to become a president of this country? … you have never won it; never have you won the regional chairman,” Mr Agyapong told Dr. Duffuor.

Reacting to Kojo Bonsu the former KMA boss, he said, “He is from Offinso. I’m wondering why the Ashantis are so eager to become president when they are not doing their homework well… charity begins at home; go there and win the seats for us before we can think about you.

“But if you don’t do it, and you’re showing your face, I mean, you are just giving us troubles.”

John Kwadwo Gyapong continued by saying that he, along with other regional leaders from all over the nation, had endorsed John Dramani Mahama to take over as the NDC’s new flagbearer.

Additionally, he declared that they would work to ensure that the former president won the party’s national delegates assembly with 98% of the vote and assist him in ousting the New Patriotic Party from the Jubilee House.
