The High Court in Accra has mandated that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), headed by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng, return the money that was seized from former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah to her within a span of 72 hours.

The former Minister’s bank accounts must also be unfrozen by the OSP.

This came about after the OSP withdrew its initial motion on Thursday, January 25, asking for confirmation orders to freeze and seize the assets of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

Following their meeting in chambers with the judge, Cecilia Dapaah, and the legal team, the OSP withdrew the criminal charge against the former Sanitation Minister as a consequence of the withdrawal.

In Court on Thursday, January 25, Justice Nana Brew had indicated he was hearing the case in open Court for the OSP to see the “urgency of the case.”

“I want you to see the urgency of this case, So I want to do the case here (open court),” Justice Nana Brew stated.

However, the judge consented to meet with the parties in chambers after the parties asked to address the bench and after the judge conversed more closely for a short while with Cecilia Abena Dapaah’s and her husband’s legal team.

After the engagement, it was discovered that Cecilia Dapaah’s charge sheet and the OSP’s motion had been dropped.

The Special Prosecutor and Cecilia Dapaah’s husband were in attendance.
