Court remands man who allegedly killed Military Officer at Kasoa

Benlord Ababio, the guy who is suspected of shooting and killing a military officer at Kasoa, has been remanded into police custody by the Achimota District Court.

The accused has been summoned to come before the court, which is chaired by His Worship Prince Owusu, on May 16.

The prosecution’s version of events states that the accused, Benlord Ababio, also known as Nana Barima Ababio, is a national security personnel and a self-described traditional chief in Kasoa. The deceased, Lance Corporal Michael Danso, was a military officer stationed at the Army Base Workshop at Burma Camp.

According to the prosecution, at approximately 4 p.m. on April 30, 2024, Lance Corporal Michael Danso, who had passed away, along with two of his colleagues, Lance Corporals Abdul Omar Rahman and Ametus Mathew, went to the Millennium City Police station located in Kasoa, Central Region, to report encroachers who were encroaching on a portion of land that belonged to Corporal Rahman.

At the police station, the accused Benlord Ababio allegedly attacked Lance Corporal Danso, who was operating a Toyota, and shot him, instantly killing him.

The defendant was taken into custody for further investigation and disarmed right away.
