Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia claimed that the Akufo-Addo administration had successfully handled Ghana’s “dumsor,” or power outage. However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuted this claim.

The NDC called on Ghanaians to ignore Dr. Bawumia’s claim, saying it is untrue.

During his recent speech on Wednesday, February 7, as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the accomplishments of the current administration, which included the purported resolution of the dumsor issue.

He attributed this success to a determined and well-thought-out government program designed to stabilize the economy and address a number of societal issues.

The NDC responded by denying Dr. Bawumia’s assertions in a press release, stating that former President John Mahama whom they hailed as a visionary leader was the one who successfully addressed the power crisis.

The NDC emphasized that President Mahama took ownership of the problem, put measures in place to address it, and eventually put an end to load shedding by 2016.

“The visionary and experienced Nation Builder, President Mahama accepted responsibility for the problem and promised to fix it. Indeed, by 2016 he had comprehensively fixed dumsor and ended load shedding.”
