When Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia submitted his nomination forms today, June 16, 2023, to run for the party’s flagbearership, he was mobbed by NPP supporters and young people.
Hundreds of NPP fans surrounded him at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down. The Vice President’s arrival immediately caused a commotion at the NPP party headquarters.
The vice president pleaded with Ghanaians to pray frequently for direction and favor for him and his staff. In addition, he asked that prayers be offered up continually for the country as it chooses its leaders.
Dr. Bawumia spent time interacting with NPP supporters while he was at the NPP headquarters. He urged them to use the fervent support they were showing to vote for him on election day so that he could carry out the many brilliant ideas that would ultimately lead to an improvement in their lives.
On Dr. Bawumia’s behalf, prominent party members like Vice Chairman Fred Oware and former National Organiser Sammy Awuku gathered the forms at the beginning of last month.
Alan Kyerematen, one of the front-runners, submitted his application on Monday.
Over the past few months, Dr. Bawumia has had numerous conversations about his ambition to vie for the NPP’s flagbearer position.
He had meetings with the Majority Caucus in Parliament, the Party’s Council of Elders, various traditional and religious leaders, and other party members to discuss his plans to lead the NPP when President Akufo-Addo’s tenure expires in 2025.
