After being requested by the NPP’s elections committee to amend his nomination documents, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, a candidate for the party’s flagbearer position, has at long last submitted his completed forms.
Dr. Apraku was ordered to complete his documents and resubmit them to the party’s elections committee after visiting the party offices on Monday, June 19, 2023, to submit his forms.
The forms have not been entirely filled out, according to earlier inspection by the elections committee.
“In the case of Dr. Apraku, when the forms were scanned, we realized that some documents were not attached, and he was asked to make sure that it is full before it will be admitted,” said Evans Nimako, the NPP’s director of elections.
‘This explains why he left the committee and subsequently returned with all necessary documents. These were accepted, and a certificate of receipt was obtained for the payment of the filing fees. Everything else was carried out as planned.
Five candidates—Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Agyarko, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku—had submitted their candidacy papers as of Monday.
Members of the team later disclosed that the nomination document filed did not contain essential materials, such as his resume and personal contributions to the party.
Dr Konadu Apraku had tried to file the nomination forms earlier but the Elections Committee rejected it and asked him to go and complete and re-submit.
On Monday morning, the former trade and industry minister and member of parliament for Offinso North in the Ashanti Region was the first person to appear at the party headquarters before Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
Dr. Apraku was instructed to check his forms, nevertheless, after meeting with the party’s elections committee.
The submission deadline is this coming Saturday, June 24, 2023.
The cost of selecting the nomination forms is GH50,000, and the filing fee is GH300,000 and is not refundable.
