The Limited Voter Registration exercise was initiated by the Ghanaian Electoral Commission on May 7, 2024, allowing those who have turned eighteen and those who were not able to register to have their names added to the commission’s database.

However, in the early hours of the day, there were some difficulties with the practice.

Regarding the events of this morning, the electoral authority has been providing explanations.

The Electoral Commission (EC) said that they had encountered some technical issues with internet connectivity in many of their registration centers in a statement released today and signed by Mr. Michael Boadu, Acting Director of Public Affairs.

These hiccups caused a delay in the process, but the Electoral Commission was able to address the issues and allow the registration to proceed.

“The commission wishes to bring to the attention of the General Public that, following our monitoring of the Voters registration Exercise this morning, we observed some technical challenges with internet connectivity in a number of our centres. This delayed the start of the registration at a number of the registration centres” the statement captured.

“We are happy to note that by 12pm, the technical issues in most of the Registration Centers had been resolved. Consequently, the Registration Exercise is proceeding smoothly in almost all the Registration Centres nationwide,” the statement added.

The commission reassured the public that it is dedicated to making sure the registration process goes well and urged everyone to maintain their composure as it works to resolve any issues that may come up during the registration period.
