An important obstacle stands in the way of the Accra Sports Stadium’s hosting of the pivotal Paris 2024 Olympic Games Qualifiers match between Zambia’s Copper Queens and Ghana’s Black Queens: electricity is still disconnected.
The disconnection is the result of an unpaid debt to the Electricity Company of Ghana of 400,000 Ghana cedis.
Due to this setback, all restrooms on the stadium grounds have been closed. As the stadium gets ready for the next game, it has turned to employing generators to deal with the problem.
While plans were in full motion for the much awaited women’s football qualification set for Friday, there was a power outage on Monday night.
The Black Queens are hoping to defeat Zambia’s Copper Queens in this crucial first leg of the final qualifying round in order to get an edge for the return match in Zambia the following week.
