The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has instructed the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to look into numerous consumer complaints regarding the unusually rapid exhaustion of prepaid electricity credits.
In a message shared on X, the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Richmond Rockson, stated that the Ministry has acknowledged the increasing worries expressed by customers nationwide about their prepaid meters functioning at lightning speed.
He revealed that the sector Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has directed ECG to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the issue and present a report within seven days to guide subsequent actions.
“The Minister of Energy and Green Transition Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor has taken notice of these complaints and has directed ECG to investigate and provide a report to him within 7 days for further action,” the statement added.
The directive aims to clarify the matter and respond to consumer worries regarding electricity billing and metering systems across the country.
