Early on Thursday, April 3, 2025, eight stores in the Tema Community 1 Market went up in flames.

After the tragic event, traders are calculating their damages because the fire destroyed a number of goods.

According to a report posted by the Ghana National Fire Service on their Facebook page, the fire started early in the morning behind ABSA Bank, and firefighters from the Tema Regional Fire Service swiftly arrived on the site.

Employees of the Ghana Police Service and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) assisted them in their efforts by keeping the area safe and cutting off electricity.

Firefighting operations were hampered by the thick smoke, but two fire pumps were ultimately used to put out the fire, according to the report.

Thankfully, there were no reported injuries.

More than 100 stores were saved, but eight were lost.

According to authorities, a comprehensive upgrade is being carried out to completely contain the fire and stop it from spreading.
