After falling into a galamsey pit nearby on Tuesday night, a 47-year-old assistant headmaster of Mpatasie DA JHS in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti region perished.

According to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the deceased, Kwasi Anane, had a mining concession that was unlawful and that he had hired people to work there.

He slipped and fell into a pit while trying to observe activities on the specified day, which resulted in his death.

Since numerous persons in the district have recently passed away in a similar way, NADMO recommends immediate action should be done by various authorities to save further deaths.

“This problem has been present. In the past three months, two people have drowned” he stated.

We at NADMO have been trying our best by visiting the sites and providing them with information, but they don’t listen to us. Such instances keep happening and are starting to become the norm.
