Ghana to launch 5G mobile internet services in September – Ursula Owusu-Ekuful

Ghana’s intentions to launch 5G mobile internet services by September 2024 have been formally announced by Minister of Communication and Digitalization Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, demonstrating the government’s commitment to growing the digital economy.

The minister emphasized the significance of adopting 5G technology for national growth and restated the ministry’s continued efforts to reach this milestone.

During a lecture at KNUST in November 2023, Dr. Joe Anokye, the Director-General of the National Communication Authority (NCA), revealed plans for Ghana’s move to the 5G network. He gave his word that all the arrangements and spectrum needed for 5G had been made, and that a formal announcement was planned for 2024.

In an interview with Peace FM, Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful expressed optimism that Ghana will attain 5G internet coverage by September 2024 and reiterated the country’s preparedness to adopt 5G technology.
