Nana Kwasi Bosompra, the chief of Goaso, wept as she discussed the state of the Ahafo Region’s roads.
Despite having been granted on contract, the primary road that connects Mim to the township has been abandoned for a long time.
The chief was sobbing as he bemoaned the bad condition of the road.
“I’ve now developed a health ailment as a result of the dusty road. What crime have we committed? He cried and said, “Ahafo Region, what have we done wrong?”
The traditional leader wiped away his tears and said, “Kofi Job mobilized his equipment to the site and the NDC awarded him the road in front of the palace.” But as soon as the Nana Akufo-Addo administration seized power, all contractors on Ahafo Roads were halted.
When the NDC’s “Building Ghana Tour” stopped by the palace as part of a visit to the Ahafo Region, the chief voiced his concerns.
The traditional authority claims that once the NPP administration came to power, civil work on the Bediako to Kasapii road—which had been completed but was waiting for an asphalt overlay—was stopped.
The relocation also had an impact on the contractor working on the Gambia Number One to Dormaa route.
“They were required to return to work after many years of auditing. However, all of their hard effort has been in vain,” Nana Kwasi Bosompra remarked.
The Goasomanhene claims that although the Ahafo Region has consistently supported the New Patriotic Party, the party has not yet given the region’s development requirements any thought.
The NDC only wins two of the six parliamentary seats in the Region.
