According to sector minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the government has started constructing modern Junior High Schools (JHS) across the nation through the Ministry of Education.

“Our secondary schools have made significant progress, but I am most appreciative of the speed at which our Junior High Schools (JHS) have advanced. A significant school complex project is under underway in Juaben in the Ashanti Region and is scheduled to be finished this year, the politician stated.

Dr. Adutwum noted that by housing all students in a community under one roof, the new facility aims to displace a limited group of public JHSs.

He stated that “this will result in an improvement in the quality of the educational system in JHSs across the whole country.”

According to Dr. Adutwum, the new school complex will house more than 1,000 students from diverse towns in the area. It has a science lab, computer lab, and robotics lab.

After completion, “we are going to move out of all the old buildings and relocate to the new modernised school.”

Juaben, Asem, Bantama, and Onwe in the Ashanti Region, the Ridge Area in Sunyani, and Chamba in the Northern Region are just a few of the communities that have already benefited from the project.

He pointed out that the government’s action will increase the appeal of public schools to both parents and pupils, describing it as “transformational development”.
