Justin Frimpong Koduah (JFK), the General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has categorically denied allegations that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, the founder of the Danquah Institute and a cousin of President Nana Akufo-Addo, controls the party (DI).
These allegations have circulated more extensively as a result of Dr. Antoinette Tsiboe-appointment Darko’s as the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP and her position as Executive Director of the Danquah Institute (DI).
The selection of Dr. Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko was made public in a statement released on Friday, August 26, 2022, following the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
The fondly known “JFK” Justin Frimpong Koduah declared unequivocally that Dr. Antoinette’s nomination was solely based on her competency during an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo.”
“The truth is I, myself, I proposed Dr. Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko. When I look at the position of the General Secretary, my vision and the innovations we want to introduce, I’m someone who believes in research. I’m very analytical, so I was looking for a Deputy General Secretary with a research background”.
“I have worked with Dr. Antoinette severally. I know what she is capable of, a very fantastic lecturer, someone with a research background, very analytical; someone who also can give a candid opinion without fear or favour” he stated.
“The fact that there has never been a woman in the position of Deputy General Secretary is one reason why I also thought I should choose a woman to maintain gender equality.
So, because I am aware of her competence, I proposed her [1].
I trust her to deliver [2,] and I respect her as a woman [3,] so “He implied.
He reprimanded individuals who were feeding rumors that he or the party was swayed by Gabby Otchere-Darko, saying that they lacked objectivity and were unfair to the party.
“To be honest with them. I never sought advice from the Danquah Institute. I never informed Gabby Otchere-Darko about my intention to hire Dr. Antoinette. In fact, they were shocked when they even heard it, “he emphasized.
JFK had faith in the DI Executive Director to carry out her obligations to the party honestly and effectively.
“I firmly believe we possess a diamond. We have someone who is really wise.
As the Deputy General Secretary, Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko is a very results-driven individual who can run the office “he declared.
