The Convention’s People’s Party (CPP) Chairperson, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa, has urged the party’s Council of Elders to initiate legal action against Emmanuel Gallo, the party’s chairman in the Ashanti Region, and Wayo Ghanamanti, his attorney.

The CPP chairperson’s appeal was in response to what she described as Mr. Gallo and Attorney Ghanamanti’s actions on the current events surrounding the by-elections for the Ejisu constituency.

The head of the party wrote to Felix Amoah, the Chairman of the CPP’s Council of Elders, stating that Mr. Gallo filed a lawsuit against the EC while the Ejisu Constituency by-election was being planned.

“This action, purportedly on behalf of the CPP, sought to bar the inclusion of our party’s candidate in the election. It is important to note that Mr. Gallo was represented by Lawyer Wayo Ghanamanti, who is allegedly vying for the Flagbearer position of the CPP in the upcoming 2024 general elections,” the letter detailed.

The CPP chairperson further noted that the deliberate dissemination of misinformation, by the two,  “including labelling Madam Osei as an imposter, has had far-reaching consequences,” impacting the party’s standing not only within the constituency but also within the wider Ashanti Region.

“It is evident that Mr. Gallo and Lawyer Ghanamanti’s actions were driven by personal agendas rather than the best interests of the CPP,” citing their “disregard for due process and their willingness to resort to deceitful tactics to further their own ambitions are wholly unacceptable and run counter to the principles and values of our party.”

Consequently, the CPP chairwoman is asking that the party’s Council of Elders move immediately to “interdict” Mr. Gallo and Lawyer Ghanamanti from their respective roles within the party.

The two should be reported to the “Disciplinary Committee for a thorough investigation into their misconduct and appropriate disciplinary measures,” she said.
