After the Iranian and Japanese ambassadors’ tour of duty in Ghana reached its finale, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo sent them parting messages.
At separate ceremonies held at the Jubilee House today, November 4, 2024, President Akufo-Addo expressed the nation’s gratitude to the two envoys for helping to strengthen the years of collaboration and cooperation between Ghana and their respective nations.
Ambassador Bijam Gerami Nazoksara, the departing ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, celebrated the start of his duty tour in Ghana in September 2022 by presenting his letters of credence to President Akufo-Addo while wearing the traditional Fugu. He is regarded as the newest representative of Ghana’s rich cultural diversity.
Outgoing Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, Ambassador Mochizuki Hisanobu, returned to the Japanese Embassy in 2021 after serving as Head of Mission from 2009 to 2012.
In addition to congratulating Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey on her recent appointment as Commonwealth Secretary General, he made reference to the close links forged in Ghana as a result of his nearly ten years of association with the nation.
Ghana and Japan have “very warm relations,” according to President Akufo-Addo, who also highlighted the two nations’ shared goals on the bilateral and global levels.
On Iran, he said it has been about half a century of friendly relations between Iran and Ghana and hoped that with the intervention of the United Nations, Iran and Israel will be able to find a way of addressing their common problems in the interest of regional and global peace and stability.
