The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Doctors Association has canceled its industrial strike after speaking with the hospital’s administration.

The choice was made after conversations about the problem of accommodations for the medical staff.

The study detailed how members of the association, KATH administration, the Regional Coordinating Council, and the Lands Commission engaged in a series of discussions before coming to a consensus on the perceived threat posed by a private developer assuming ownership of doctors’ bungalows.

The association’s president, Michael Leat, emphasized in an interview with media the conclusions of the talks and stated that they would no longer pursue individual attempts to obtain housing.

Rather, hospital administration and other stakeholders have assured them that accommodations concerns will be immediately resolved.

“We see no reason why we should return to looking for lodging on our own, given our stakeholders have committed to assist us in doing so after our meeting with them.

There’s no need to be concerned because we firmly believe in them. We are pleased that everyone management, employees, and stakeholders agrees with what management and other stakeholders have stated, he continued.

It is anticipated that the medics will return to their full duty this Friday, March 15.
