Kwabena Dwumfour elected president Ghana Journalist Association

Albert Kwabena Dwumfour of the Tobinco Group of Companies, has been elected President of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) today Friday 24th June 2022.

Mr Dwumfour got 233 votes while his closest candidate Gayheart Mensah had 181 votes.

Out of the total of 556 valid votes cast, three votes were rejected.

With the General Secretary position Current Kofi Yeboah beat Akwasi Agyemeng with 348 votes against 208 votes to retain his position.

The Organizing Secretary position went to Dominic Hlordzi with 300 votes.

Rebecca Ekpe is the newly elected GJA Public Affairs Officer after beating Caesar Abagali.

The Vice President and Treasurer positions were the only unopposed positions that now have Linda Asante Agyei and Audrey Dekalu occupying such positions, respectively.

Over 800 members of the Ghana Journalists Association were expected to cast their ballots on Friday to elect their new executives. However, a total of 556 votes were cast.

The GJA is the umbrella body for journalist in Ghana.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Dwumfour vowed to engage all stakeholders for the good of journalists.
