John Dramani Mahama, a former president and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has given the Buzstopboys GH¢50,000 to support their Clean Ghana campaign.
This donation is anticipated to assist the group in funding the acquisition of supplies and machinery for their hygienic endeavors.
At his office’s donation event, Mr. Mahama emphasized the value of volunteerism in preserving urban cleanliness.
He compared the community sanitary norms of rural areas with the issues presented by urban anonymity and the growing amount of waste in cities. Speaking about his early cleaning rituals as a child, Mr. Mahama commended the Buzstopboys for their commitment to enhancing sanitation.
“When I saw you guys, young people, filling in that gap, I thought that you needed to be encouraged,” he said.
Additionally, he emphasized the serious issue of plastic pollution, particularly as it relates to food packaging. Mr. Mahama asked people to help organizations like the Buzstopboys.
He claimed to be nonpartisan in his support. “This is not something I’m doing to get your vote. He said, “I just want to encourage you.”
