According to Edward Doe Adjaho, the chairman of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) vetting committee, former president John Dramani Mahama will be the first name on the ticket in the party’s presidential elections.
Following the thorough screening of all three contenders, votes were cast for the second and third places, respectively, with the former chief executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Kojo Bonsu, and the former finance minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor.
Fourth-place finisher Ernest Kwaku Kobeah withdrew from the contest before the vote.
After the vetting was completed and the findings were made public, Mr. Adjaho stated that the party will inform the Electoral Commission (EC) about the arrangements for the primaries.
The NDC has set May 13 as the date for its presidential and parliamentary elections.
